Elect Pat Murphy

Growth Innovations Executive Director Tami Jacobs is pleased to announce a transition in leadership of its Board of Directors as long-time Board Chair Pat Murphy concludes his service, and Mark Baloun assumes the role of Board Chair.Murphy has served on the Growth Innovations Board of Directors since 2019, providing leadership and guidance during a period of significant growth and achievement for the organization. As his term comes to an end, Murphy will be pursuing another opportunity to serve the community through his candidacy for Aitkin County Commissioner.

• “Pat’s dedication to Growth Innovations and the residents of Aitkin County has been instrumental in advancing our mission,” said Tami Jacobs, Executive Director of Growth Innovations. “His leadership helped strengthen our organization and position us to address some of the most important economic development challenges facing our communities today.”During Murphy’s tenure, Growth Innovations expanded support for local businesses through its lending and technical assistance programs, strengthened partnerships with community stakeholders, and advanced initiatives focused on economic growth, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and housing.
• One of the organization’s most significant accomplishments during this period was its partnership in the development of a new 44-unit multifamily housing project in Aitkin with INH Properties, the City of Aitkin and Aitkin County. The project represents a major investment in the community and addresses a critical need for workforce housing, helping local employers attract and retain employees while supporting the county’s long-term economic vitality.”One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is the progress we’ve made toward increasing housing opportunities in Aitkin County,” said Murphy. “The 44-unit housing development demonstrates what can be achieved when community partners come together around a common goal. Growth Innovations has been fortunate to work alongside dedicated partners committed to strengthening our communities and creating opportunities for future generations.”
• As Growth Innovations looks to the future, the Board of Directors has elected Mark Baloun to serve as its next Board Chair.Baloun joined the Growth Innovations Board in 2023 and has extensive experience in community leadership and civic engagement. In addition to his service with Growth Innovations, he has served on numerous local boards and committees, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to the success and well-being of Aitkin County and its residents.
